The Oyster Festival on Long Island NY is the largest annual outdoor festival and the largest waterfront fest on the East Coast with over 200,000 people attending annually. The lineup includes tall ships, pirate shows and carnival rides. Aside from oysters prepared every way imaginable, it also features the famous oyster shucking contest.
The Oyster Festival originated as a hometown parade honoring Theodore Roosevelt before evolving into the largest outdoor festival on Long Island, under the auspices of the Oyster Bay Rotary. Every year the event features live entertainment, Tall Ships, top-notch artisans, pirate shows, midway rides, and the iconic oyster eating and shucking contest. And of course…the Food Court, where volunteer chefs and culinary pros work side by side, cooking and serving dozens of unique oyster, clam and other seafood preparations along with traditional festival cuisine.
The success of the Oyster Festival on Long Island NY is a reflection of the year-long effort, dedication and pride of the members of The Oyster Bay Rotary Club - for these tireless volunteers, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the community come together this popular event, while helping fund local service programs that take place year-round and that improve the life for all residents.
