The Shrimp Festival is always held the the fall on the 2nd full weekend in October, the 2014 festival is being held from October 9th to the 12th. The festival is held at Gulf Place Public Beach in Gulf Shores Alabama, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.
The popular event includes over 300 vendors that offer arts and crafts, a retail, an outdoor village, children’s village, food, and of course, a variety of gulf coast shrimp! There is live entertainment daily and admission to the festival is FREE! Now in its 43rd year, the festival attracts over 250,000 people from across the country that come to enjoy the many attractions, food and live music – and of course, the white-sand beaches! Two stages offer continuous musical entertainment and the Children’s Activity Village captures the imagination of the youngsters with games, crafts and interactive activities that allow them create their own “art” and participate in other fun activities.The Shrimp Festival 10K/5K Run/Walk is held on Saturday morning of the festival in Orange Beach, Alabama - this sport-event is very popular race with nearly 800 runners last year.
